Why are Attendance and Punctuality a very great deal at work?
Imagine that Daisy, the Customer Care Representative of ABC-Sample Company clocks in 45 minutes late and walked into the Office to meet 12 customers awaiting her. This could be a great deal right? Let’s see the customers reactions to Daisy’s lateness.
“You must be very unserious about your work and this Business, coming to work at this time”, the very first customer yelled at her.
“I can’t stand this whole mess” another customer shouted while walking out.
“This is vey unfair, you think we’ve got all the time to waste her”. another customer shouted.
“I should report you to your Boss”, says another customers.
As Daisy tried rushing up to pick the customers file from the cabinet to attend to the customers, her high heeled shoes slipped off the ground and she fell to ground and the customers altogether chorused.
Eventually, her Boss rushed down the stairs into her office and asked her why the noise emanated from her office, but she could not explain anything knowing well she had done wrong. The Customers then chorused to reply the Boss. “She is just coming in!”.
The CEO immediately warned her right in front of the Customers and ordered the Human Resource Manager to give her a query while keeping a close eye on her to observe her.
From the above case, here are some lessons deduced:
- The customers are entitled to a bad perception and wrong impression of the staff and the company of not being serious with work and with Business.
- The Business losses Customer(s) for the Employee coming late to work.
- The Customers sensed their time was not valued by the Company.
- The Customers can give a bad report or review of the staff and the experience with the Company.
- The Employee is overwhelmed with unnecessary pressure by coming late.
- The Employee is entitled to receiving either a warning or query from the Boss.
- The Employee can be fired if lateness persist.
