Can Universities forestall truancy among their students?
Among the challenges Higher Institutions are confronted is the Students’ Truancy. This could be as a result of abuse of freedom by the students or the inability of the student to personally manage oneself, especially in the aspect of time and priorities.
Sun and Oak Consult have helped McPherson University to well manage, control and improve students’ attendance and participation in the University’s events and programs through the design, development, deployment and usage of Fingerprint Biometrics Attendance Management System.
Prior to the development, the University recorded about a monthly average of 15% Absentees in the University’s events and programs. While, after the introduction, the University recorded a 12% reduction in the monthly average number of absentees from the University’s events and programs, thereby increasing the monthly average to 97% with an average of 3% absentees recorded.
The Performances of students have been impacted by the deployment and usage of the Fingerprint Biometrics Attendance Management System at McPherson University. For instance, it helped to ensure that students attend and conclude a class, an event or a program thereby qualifying the students for attendance marks.
The Fingerprint Biometrics Attendance Management System was developed to forestall truancy in Citadels of Higher Learning. It captures the Fingerprint data of all users and validates them before access can be granted access to study facilities. Once access is granted, the Identity, Time-in and Time-out of the user are recorded and saved into an external database for future audit.
